A break is upon us which has meant a gruelling week of training followed by a few days off.
The training itself consisted of Tuesday and Wednesday being football-based and gym-based and then, for a change, on Thursday we found ourselves in a boxing gym in St. Albans being put through our paces by a trainer there. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who felt a bit sore the next day!
We also had a reserve game earlier in the week wh ...

A great end to the week as we get the better of Ipswich in a thrilling game at the vic. Although the winner came late on I don’t think there could be many watching the game who could argue that the win wasn’t deserved. On another day it could quite comfortably been 4 or 5 had Jobi’s chance gone in or the penalty appeal been awarded in the first half along with a few other chances that went begging.
It’s unusual for me to single out any pla ...

Unfortunately not the desired result after a good week's training - the loss to Forest was a blow in a game where there was little to separate the two teams. A draw probably a fairer result in my eyes. Once again I’m sure we’ll pick ourselves up and bounce back on Tuesday night against Darlington.
It was a good week for me as I played in my first game since the end of last season. It was in a reserve match against Leyton Orient at Brisbane road. I have ...

A pleasing week for all involved with WFC; a fine performance from our younger pro’s midweek and a thoroughly deserved victory over Charlton yesterday.
I think it’s fair to say too that the new style of football we displayed was widely appreciated by all those who were there.
There was also another boost with the signing of Greg Raziak. It was only a brief appearance against Charlton but he quickly showed his ability in the a ...

As hoped, when the pressure was on the lads produced a good performance and came away with a creditable point at Crystal Palace - a point which could quite easily have been three on another day. I think most are in agreement that Crystal Palace will be contenders this season so I think it sets a good benchmark for games ahead.
It’s been a good week of training for the lads, after defeat last week the boss was keen to make sure we went into the Palace game with no stone ...

A disappointing week on the field for the lads after suffering defeats to Barnet and MK Dons.
I went up to Milton Keynes on Wednesday and despite the defeat there were some encouraging signs for the Palace game next week - although from what I understand there were less promising signs from the Barnet game yesterday.
That being said I remember years gone by where our pre-season games haven't quite gone to plan, in terms of results, and then we've started the sea ...

A busy week at WFC with Darius making the move up north and with the club and the local paper at war with each other - there's not a moment's peace right now!
Regarding the Darius transfer, it's a shame on a personal level because Darius was a popular figure amongst the lads and the fans alike. I can only assume the offer was too good to turn down and with football how it is, money talks so to speak. Again we wish him all the best.
On a personal note this has be ...

We’re back in the UK after what was, for most, a gruelling week in Austria.
Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for me. Within a couple of days of training over there I woke up to feel that my knee was stiff and quite swollen. It’s a problem I’ve been dealing with for some months now; it meant that I trained very little towards the end of last season and it was just a case of doing enough to get by without aggravating it.
Being at the start of the season I don’t ...

First week of pre-season under our belts, four more weeks until our first game away at Palace.
It's been a tough week as expected; those who are familiar with the bleep test will understand that's a tough start to any week. There were also many other speed and endurance drills to check the level that we are all at and to make sure we haven't let ourselves go over the summer break.
Everyone has come back in decent shape and the results were, on the whole, very go ...

With pre-season round the corner it meant a tough week's training in an attempt to prepare myself for the five or six weeks ahead. I reported to the training ground along with a few other lads to do some work in the gym and to do some light goalkeeping work.
I'm also in the process of moving at the moment so spent most of Monday and Friday packing up my house preparation - not the most enthralling of tasks!
Once more, very little to report on the football front, ...
