Top Turn-Around

A great end to the week with a vital win over Charlton in dramatic circumstances at The Valley.

A great second-half performance meant three points returned to The Vic thanks to goals from Don, Tamas and a superb volley from Grzegorz. We always knew it'd be a tough game so to get the victory at such a vital stage of the season meant a good trip home on the coach after the game.

The week didn't start so well after losing away at Plymouth. It's always a g ...

And another 2-0!

Well another game and another 2-0 scoreline!

Not the prettiest game we’ll ever see but we were able to show a different side to our play in overcoming a physical Crystal Palace team.

I was pleased for Don who has been first-class since joining last month and really took his goal well - another positive addition I’m sure.

Palace did have a number of half-chances but I think we created the more clear-cut chances on the da ...

Twice As Nice!

Well what a fantastic week! Successive 2-0 victories see us climbing out of the relegation zone in some style and with games in hand over those around us.

Tuesday night was a great night. We faced an in form Swansea team, a real test for us. We went into the game with confidence on the back of our performance against Chelsea and it certainly showed. Two superb goals and a very solid defensive display saw us run out quite comfortable winners in the end and even meant we claimed t ...

Credit In Defeat

Oh what could have been! A thrilling game that almost had the fairytale ending unfortunately saw us go out of the cup to Premier League giants Chelsea 3-1 at The Vic.

I think the first thing I have to mention is the buzz around the stadium. We could all sense there was an opportunity for us to progress despite the stature of the opposition. We fought hard and were rewarded with Tamas’s goal with only 20 mins or so to go in the game: the upset was on. It has been a long ...

Snow Joke

Well what a bizarre week!

Due to the snow we were only able to train on Wednesday and even that was no more than a gym session.  The extreme weather meant the pitches at our London Colney training ground were unplayable - and it also meant that for the rest of the week it's been unsafe for us to get to and from training.

Despite the sun making an appearance on Saturday, the surrounding areas of the stadium were deemed too dangerous for our game again ...

Movers & Savers

It has been a mixed week after a resounding win over Burnley midweek followed by a 3-1 defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

Those Watford fans who were there would largely agree that the 3-1 scoreline wasn’t perhaps a fair reflection on what was a close encounter between the two sides.

Had it not been for a top save from Hennessey in the Wolves goal first half, then things may have been different. We always knew it would be a tough place to go but could ha ...

Bugged Off I Wasn't There!

A much better weekend after a seven-goal thriller at The Vic sees us into the last 16!

Unfortunately I wasn’t there to see it myself due to illness but have spoken to a couple of the lads and, barring the final 10 minutes where by all accounts we made it tough for ourselves, our performance was one of the best yet. I even heard that Jay smashed one in from 20 yards! I’m looking forward to seeing that on TV.

As I said I caught a bit of a bu ...

Moving House & Moving On Up?

Firstly sorry for the lateness in my weekly diary this week; the reason is that my lease expired on my apartment so have spend the majority of the weekend moving home and I'm still in the process of doing this, so excuse me if this is brief!

Unfortunately Saturday's result has meant another unpleasant weekend for Hornets fans. Although once again you wouldn’t say that we were totally outplayed by our opponents, we were nonetheless on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline. A ...

Putting Defeat Behind Us

Not the result we were hoping for despite some promising play away at Reading.

The result flattered them a bit, the second goal turned out to be a deflating one from our point of view and made the last 20 minutes a stroll for Reading. We always knew it would be a tough task so we won’t lose heart from this result and I’m sure there’ll be a reaction in next week’s game at home to Sheffield United.

The week itself wasn&am ...

Cup Win & Elton Visit

Another eventful week and a good win over Scunthorpe to make for a good weekend for all Watford fans.

Although Scunthorpe are a League One team, it was only last season they were in the Championship and coming to Vicarage Road and turning us over, so I think it’s important not to underestimate yesterday's result.

The pitch was tricky and made a good passing game tough but once again there were periods of play where we strung a number of passes toget ...
