Every other week, I'll give my thoughts on a subject - which may or may not be football-related. Feel free to chip in with what you reckon on the matter. Your views will be displayed below the article.

Malky In (& more Brendan chat)

Thanks for all your responses - it's great to have such feedback on my website.

There are some great points and, since I wrote my piece, a few things have come to light which I would like to explain.

I wrote it without being fully aware of exactly what quotes had been said and, in fairness, I should probably have read them all fully before writing my bit - for that I hold my hands up and in truth I'm surprised Brendan said what he did given that Reading have been showing interest in him for some time.

So although had I have read them it would change my piece slightly I still stand by what I said regarding Brendan. I have had the pleasure of knowing him first-hand and he is a genuinely nice guy and my guess is he probably regrets some of his comments prior to his move - I'm sure he's learnt a valuable lesson from this experience.

I know that probably isn't enough for some and I can sense the anger from a lot of fans I've spoken to. I just wonder if that attitude towards him would've been anywhere near as severe had he not said what he did? I realise we are all welcome to our opinion however.

Regardless of what he said it is a shame Brendan has gone and I will look at his time in a positive light; we played some good football and avoided relegation that at one point looked a strong possibility.

The club moved forward in his time at the helm and, with any big change, comes opportunity and that is reality now with Malky getting the job.

I know he'll be well received - the players and fans both respect him -  and his philosophy on football is one that will bring more entertaining football to The Vic...and some great days next season I am sure.

So what have we really lost?

But hey, that's just my view. An opinion is not right or wrong and we are all welcome to one. Again, I'll read with interest any further thoughts from you.

Roll on next season...
Rich

I think Watford fans would have been much more philosophical about Brendan's departure had he not come out with his embarrassing comments about how "disrespectful" people were being linking him with other clubs and how such talk was "questioning his integrity". After all the recent upheavals, Watford fans were crying out for someone they could trust and support. Brendan played on that, talking earnestly about trust, his integrity, his long-term plans and his love for Watford. Then he was gone. I also met the guy on a few occasions and he seemed decent enough, but I'm afraid that his behaviour has left an enormous amount to be desired and it really reflects badly on him as a person. We're frankly better off with Malky at the helm.
