On The Move

A busy week at WFC with Darius making the move up north and with the club and the local paper at war with each other - there's not a moment's peace right now!

Regarding the Darius transfer, it's a shame on a personal level because Darius was a popular figure amongst the lads and the fans alike. I can only assume the offer was too good to turn down and with football how it is, money talks so to speak. Again we wish him all the best.

On a personal note this has been a physically draining week as I've been put through my paces in the swimming pool and the gym! As you may have gathered I'm not fit yet and will be looking at a couple more weeks at best before I am, which will mean I miss the start of the season which is never good timing.

I'm sure once again I'll bounce back though and you can be assured I'll be fighting for that number one spot when I am fit. Being the person I am, I look for positives out of all situations and the biggest one I have now is that when not involved in games it means you can push your body to a level that isn't possible when you are preapring for games. After each training session I can barely walk to my car as I've worked my legs that hard, something that wouldn't be wise in the run-up to a game!

It's also a chance to strengthen up other little niggles that I've had for a while now. Most footballers will tell you there's very rarely a time when they play injury free, so to have the chance to get your body back as close as 100% as possible is too good an opportunity to pass up.

I've also had the joy of moving house this weekend. A very stressful sunday began at 9am and ended at 9pm - but with the help of my good friends Carl Gunning and Jamie Weatherhead we managed to ferry all the boxes to where they needed to go and now I just have the joy of unpacking everything and putting everything together!

The lads were getting slightly annoyed with me as I pointed out that I was unable to help due to my bad knee - so I took on the responsibility of foreman, much to their annoyance. Obviously I did feel slightly as it was near on the hottest day of the year but that guilt soon vanished. cheers lads!

The team itself enjoyed a couple of run-outs this week, with the win over Boreham Wood and the draw against Brentford. I was unable to get to either of the games but, by all accounts, our new style of football was starting to take shape and was appreciated by the fans.

I'm hoping to finish training in time to make my way up to Milton Keynes for our game there on Wednesday. I could imagine that'd be a good test for us, against a team that seems destined for the Championship in the foreseeable future.

It'll be another week of hard work for me but hopefully I'll be back here speaking of performances in the near future. See you next week.
