Two Games, Two Wins - A Good Week

Two games, two wins - a great week for us!

Not only can I talk about promising performances but also results.

The midweek game against Norwich wasn’t our best performance by a long shot. In fact it's probably the worst we’ve played under Brendan but we showed plenty of good qualities and were able to grind out a big win. Composed finishes from both Tamas and Tommy meant a crucial three points and set us up nicely for the game against Coventry.

In my opinion the game against Coventry in all truth shouldn’t really have gone ahead. The conditions meant that the quality of the football was never going to be great and the state of the pitch post-match doesn’t look promising for the upcoming games, especially if rugby goes ahead this weekend.

Despite this we did manage to play the conditions very well and think we were well worth the three points. In truth, the game could have been over by half-time if it weren’t for the performance of their keeper. The save from John-Joe was top class - had that have gone in I’m sure we’d already have seen our 'Goal of the Season'...a fantastic effort.

It was great to see John-Joe and Tommy on the score sheet again, there are certain players who just seem to be in the right place at the right time and that, combined with composed finishing which they both have, makes for a top player.

Unsurprisingly there are of course rumours circulating in the papers that they both may need to be  sold in order for the club to move forward. It goes without saying that we sincerely hope this isn’t the case.

On another note we also had our players' night out after the Coventry game. The days of being out every week are long gone so it's quite rare that we do get to see each other outside of the training ground. It was nice to be able to go out on the back of a victory - always makes for a good night!

After a hectic few weeks we finally have a week without a midweek game, it’ll mean a good week of training and also the opportunity for those carrying knocks to fully recover in time for the test of Derby.

That'll be another big game, one that if we were to win would certainly mean us looking up rather than down the table - especially with them being in close proximity to us. Should be exciting!
