Firstly sorry for the lateness in my weekly diary this week; the reason is that my lease expired on my apartment so have spend the majority of the weekend moving home and I'm still in the process of doing this, so excuse me if this is brief!
Unfortunately Saturday's result has meant another unpleasant weekend for Hornets fans. Although once again you wouldn’t say that we were totally outplayed by our opponents, we were nonetheless on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline. And to make matters worse both scorers were previously at our club.
We seem to find that we are keeping the ball better than we have before but we lack penetration at the moment, something we’ll be working hard to rectify this week. The result also meant we crept closer to the relegation zone. We are all confident that we are too good to go down but we realise we must start picking up results sooner rather than later because the last thing we want is to be biting our nails in the latter part of the season.
The week itself was once again a good one for training and I have to say it's been excellent in recent weeks - very sharp and with quality. Many of the drills are plucked from the Chelsea training ground and you can see why they like them so much, they really have captured the imagination of the boys.
This week did see the departure of Leigh Bromby. I personally was sad to see him go as Leigh was someone who I had grown close to in his time at Watford but unfortunately he had to make way as financial pressures are starting to take their toll. I’m sure there’ll be more movement in and out in the upcoming couple of weeks.
No midweek game this week so once again the focus will all be on Saturday’s game which gives us a break from league action as we face Palace in the cup. We know it’ll be a tough game but could provide the perfect springboard to get ourselves up and running in preparation for the remainder of the season.
Catch you next week.
