It has been a mixed week after a resounding win over Burnley midweek followed by a 3-1 defeat to Wolves on Saturday.
Those Watford fans who were there would largely agree that the 3-1 scoreline wasn’t perhaps a fair reflection on what was a close encounter between the two sides.
Had it not been for a top save from Hennessey in the Wolves goal first half, then things may have been different. We always knew it would be a tough place to go but could have been an opportunity to get ourselves away from the relegation zone. It does, however, mean now that we only have one more game left this season against the current top six, so we’ll be expecting a strong finish to the season.
Tuesday night was a great night if you were a Watford fan. Playing one of the teams of the season in Burnley we really showed what we are capable of, a result that never looked in danger. Also a fantastic debut for Mike Williamson who looks like a very good prospect in the centre of defence; tall, strong in the air and useful with his feet. I'm sure he’ll be a good addition to what we already have.
I write this on Monday morning so am not sure what the day has in store, it is of course the last day of the transfer window which notoriously is always the busiest day for transfer activity. I’m sure it’ll be an interesting one - it usually is!
Not much else to report from the past week, it's been a busy one due to the games we’ve had. No midweek game this week but a big game on Saturday against Southampton awaits us. A win there and we’d set ourselves up nicely for the run-in.
Enjoy the snow! See ya next week.
