Well what a bizarre week!
Due to the snow we were only able to train on Wednesday and even that was no more than a gym session. The extreme weather meant the pitches at our London Colney training ground were unplayable - and it also meant that for the rest of the week it's been unsafe for us to get to and from training.
Despite the sun making an appearance on Saturday, the surrounding areas of the stadium were deemed too dangerous for our game against Southampton to go ahead.
Therefore there really is very little to report this week. The transfer window closed on Monday with a couple of last-minute purchases and, notably, no more departures. The new lads were introduced to us on Wednesday and both come highly thought of. I'm sure we’ll get to know them better in the coming weeks (that’s if the snow clears up some time soon of course!)
The lack of a game this weekend means we’ll have to wait a couple of weeks before we can resume league action. Before then, of course, we have the small matter of hosting Chelsea in the cup. With it not quite going to plan for Chelsea in the league, I’m sure this game has a little more importance attached to it for them, a chance of silverware I’m sure they think.
It’ll be a fascinating game and one I know we are all looking forward to. And of course there is the added spice of Chelsea being Brendan’s former club - who better to know how to play them than Brendan?
In the meantime enjoy what remains of the snow, drive safely and see you next week.
