Well another game and another 2-0 scoreline!
Not the prettiest game we’ll ever see but we were able to show a different side to our play in overcoming a physical Crystal Palace team.
I was pleased for Don who has been first-class since joining last month and really took his goal well - another positive addition I’m sure.
Palace did have a number of half-chances but I think we created the more clear-cut chances on the day and deserved the victory. I can’t help but think how good we’ll be to watch once the pitch has chance to recover. It may have to wait till next season now but I truly believe that’ll help our game.
Earlier in the week I played my first game for some time in the reserves. We faced Ipswich reserves and went down 2-0 and, although as a team it was a disappointing performance, on a personal level I was pleased. I felt very sharp, which when your role is as a substitute it’s very important that you don’t allow yourself to dip below the standards you are capable of.
I know full well I could be called upon any moment and if that moment arrives I’ve got to be ready for it. That will probably be my last reserve game for some time as we have a very busy schedule ahead of us.
So another tough week ahead but a week we are very much looking forward to. With yesterday’s victory we’ve given ourselves a little breathing space and a few more performances like we’ve been producing and I’m sure we can put any relegation fears behind us.
I’ll look forward to seeing you all at Plymouth on Tuesday night! ;-)
