Top Turn-Around
A great end to the week with a vital win over Charlton in dramatic circumstances at The Valley.
A great second-half performance meant three points returned to The Vic thanks to goals from Don, Tamas and a superb volley from Grzegorz. We always knew it'd be a tough game so to get the victory at such a vital stage of the season meant a good trip home on the coach after the game.
The week didn't start so well after losing away at Plymouth. It's always a game that gets noted at the beginning of a season as it takes the best part of four-and-a-half hours to get down there and isn't the most welcoming place to visit: small changing rooms, etc. etc.
We didn't play all that well on the night and, although we were on the verge of getting a draw, we never performed well enough to snatch the three points.
We didn't return to the training ground until 3am and it took most of the boys a couple of days to recover, which made the victory all the more pleasing yesterday.
I also had the opportunity to go to wembley last Weekend to watch Ben Foster in action in the Carlign Cup Final. I was so pleased for him, such an incredible achievement - after the problems he's had - to not only play in the cup final but come out as the hero of the day...his save in the second half to his right was right out of the top drawer.
So another week down and not many to go, a fantastic opportunity this week as we face Forest and Sheff Wed at home. We'll be aiming for 6 points and what could possiblty see us within touching distance of safety.
