Only one point to show for our efforts this week - but two more promising performances mean we edge ever closer to guaranteed safety.
The Cardiff game was a sickener for all involved for so many reasons. The fact that an extra two minutes were played from nowhere, the question as to whether it was a penalty or not etc., but thankfully we were able to take the positives from the performance and didn’t allow it to affect us.
A point at Cardiff would have been a fantastic result and, on the balance of things, it would’ve been no less than we deserved. It wasn’t meant to be, though, so we put it behind us and moved on.
The Ipswich game was a very entertaining 0-0 draw, both teams created chances and had it not been for the brilliance of Loachy and Richard Wright the scoreline could’ve gone either way. To go to Ipswich and get a point is very creditable; they are a team that try to get the ball down and pass it and, in truth, have probably under-achieved this season so we were happy coming away from there with a point in the bag. Three would’ve been nice of course but we’re happy with one for now!
This week I also attended a meeting with Watford’s disabled supporters and we were presented the plans for the surrounding area of Vicarage road stadium for years to come. For those who are unaware or haven’t seen the plans, they look very impressive! A brand new hospital coupled with new housing, a new access road and even a lake will be fantastic for Watford as a whole. It was also nice to have a chat for half-hour or so just about life at The Vic at the moment and sharing some stories that I’m sure a few of the lads wished would stay at our London Colney training ground!
An international break ahead means two weeks of tough training but also means the opportunity for a couple of days off. We haven’t had any for three weeks due to all the games so I intend to make the most of them, and by making the most I do of course mean lying in front of the TV and sleeping lots!
We do have an activity day planned on Wednesday also; we don’t know what it is yet, I’m hoping for Go-Karting and, if that’s the case, then I shall be reporting a victory next week.
See ya then.
