A quiet week due to the international break we find ourself in.
What it does mean is that I can go into detail regarding the Go Karting trip we went on this week (as I mentioned last week). And I’m happy to report I did indeed emerge victorious!
Twenty-eight players and staff took part; it was held at the Daytona track in Milton Keynes and was a very enjoyable day, although I guess I would say that as I won!
The race itself was very competitive and I was in second place for the majority of the race to Lee Williamson, it was only a black flag he received with two laps to go that meant I was able to overtake him while he sat in the sin bin! For anyone that hasn’t been go karting I would definitely recommend it - it really does give you a buzz.
Other than that we have had a few tough days' training followed by a long weekend off. We haven’t had a day off for some time due to the amount of games so the coaching staff decided that a few days off was in order with no games this weekend.
I did have a brief visit from Ben Foster earlier in the week; the England lads are training at The Grove this week so he popped in on his way down. I was delighted to see that he was given a half in yesterday’s game against Slovakia. It was a quiet game for him but he looked very composed as always. He’s had a funny season in that he hasn’t played all that many games but he’s certainly made his mark. All being well I can see next season being a great one for him.
We're now about to build up to another big game at the weekend away to Doncaster. A win there and we will have hit the 50-point mark, a mark we plan to reach sooner rather than later. Doncaster have, however, been on a great run so we know we’ll be in for a tough day.
Until then...
