A last bit of relaxation in Spain as pre-season creeps closer for Rich & the boys. Still no official word on the new boss though...
The search for the new manager continues but a few other things of note to report off the field this week.
Firstly Lee Williamson has made the move to Sheffield United. It’s a shame to see Lee go as he is a very talented player and one that I’m sure would’ve been heavily involved next season had he have stayed. He did have some good times with us and I’m sure he’ll get a warm reception when he returns.
The other departure was that of Theo Robinson. Theo never really had a sustained run of games with us but has been prolific in his loan spells elsewhere so am sure he’ll rise up again with Swindon.
On a personal note I spent the early part of the week in Spain with Ben Foster and Alec Chamberlain. We played a couple of rounds of golf and ate way too much food.
It was a great couple of days and nice to catch up with Ben. I still speak to him regularly but it can be tough to catch up living so far away so we’ve been to Spain the past couple of years and it’s like he never left Watford. There was plenty of banter flying about as you’d expect, I’ve no doubt next season is going to be a memorable one for him.
As pre-season edges closer it has meant that I’ve upped my training program. I want to hit the ground running next season so have spent most of this close season training and I’m feeling great for it. Only a couple of weeks left now and, in truth, I can’t wait to get back to work.
I’ll be back next week with the probability of writing about the successor to Brendan. Watch this space ...
