Regroup and Refocus

A disappointing end to what had been a promising week. The 2-0 defeat to Palace came as a surprise as we all approached the game in confident mood, especially after our performance last week at West Brom.

After watching the game again I think we all agree it'd have been a different game had we managed to convert one of our chances. It wasn’t meant to be though, and once again it’s time to regroup and refocus on what is now the new challenge, gaining promotion through the play-offs.

We all realise it will do us no good thinking of what might’ve been - we still have a great chance to progress and it’s our job as players to adopt the best mindset possible to give everything we have to make that a reality.

We trained Tuesday to Friday and training was of a high standard, shooting practice being a prominent theme of the week. The coaches thought up some weird and wonderful drills to test the forwards. As always, the keepers came out on top! :-) (well I would say that!)

On Thursday evening we all attended the sponsors dinner, the annual event where we share a table with our kit sponsors and share thoughts on the season to date. The evening starts with a Q&A session which Aidy asked me to assist him with. It was something that was quite new to me and I actually quite enjoyed it. It was always going to provoke some stick from the lads, especially after one answer I gave where I managed to go onto some random tangent and actually forgot what the question was to begin with!

I also met up with former Watford keeper Chris Day on Wednesday evening for a meal and to catch up. Chris is currently at Millwall recovering from an operation he recently had on his ankle but should be fit again soon. We discussed the idea of starting a goalkeeping school, among other subjects, coaching being of interest to both Chris and myself...it could well be a possibility at some stage.

Scunthorpe are next week’s visitors and we fully intend not only to make the play-offs but make them with momentum behind us, hopefully starting then...
