Rich covers the Wealdstone game and some more military training methods in this week's diary.
It’s been another good week of training followed by a decent performance against a spirited Wealdstone side.
The game itself was slightly more competitive than last week, the pitch didn’t make passing easy due to the long sticky grass - and windy conditions added to the challenge.
But despite that we played some attractive football in patches and scored some good goals, not to mention a clean sheet which as a goalkeeper is always a bonus. There were some very positive performances, including that of French trialist Claudio who certainly gave their left-back a tough time.
On a personal level I had plenty of positives to take with a couple of things to work on. Scott will be back to training on Monday then we’re off to spain on Tuesday so I’m not sure how it’ll work for the remaining games.
The week itself consisted of double sessions every day, including the highlight being an army type circuit set out for us on Wednesday afternoon which I’m still feeling slightly stiff from now!
The training has been great though, plenty of work with a football and, in terms on body fats and general fitness, the lads are looking very strong.
As I mentioned, this week we are off to Spain for a week. It’ll be another very tough week before things calm down a bit in time for Doncaster.
I’ll be taking my laptop so will be sure to do my weekly report out there. Cheers for now.
