A glance back at a goal-packed week for the Hornets as Rich sets his sights on two big away games upcoming
We accumulated four points and six goals in an eventful week.
It started off with a bang, that's for certain; beating Forest 4-2 at the City Ground in what was undoubtedly our best performance to date. As you could imagine it was an adrenaline-filled changing room after defeating a team who had spent £6m this summer.
I’m sure we don’t need convincing but that result certainly gave us a lot of confidence in the thought of what could be achieved this season.
We then hosted Blackpool at The vic on Saturday. Despite a lot of chances we were only able to convert two and had to settle for the point. A lot of credit for Blackpool’s point has to go to their keeper Paul Rachubka who pulled off a fantastic save in the dying seconds to deny us.
Once again I was very impressed with Tom Cleverly, he’s already stamped his mark on the Championship and I’m sure there’s plenty more to come from him before his loan spell expires.
In truth, we were disappointed in the changing room after the game as we knew on the balance of play we should’ve picked up the three points, but there were many big positives to take; one being the amount of chances we created - I know there were some questioning where goals may come from after the sale of Tamas but I’m sure the past two games have calmed those worries.
The other point of note is that we now have only one week left in the transfer window. The longest running saga seems to be that of Tommy. It goes without saying that we all hope the next week flies by and Tom is still a Watford player come September 1st...another great finish yesterday just underlined what he means to us.
It's another busy week ahead with two very tough away games, the first being in the Carling Cup against Leeds followed by Swansea on the Saturday.
The games are certainly coming thick and fast, but that’s how we like it!
Cheers for now.
