Barnsley boost after good week
Two weeks of tough training was made worthwhile with a win...
Two weeks of tough training was made worthwhile as we dominated at home to Barnsley. It was of course nice to get the victory but to do it in the style that we did was especially pleasing and, in truth, the scoreline didn’t really reflect our dominance.
We kept the ball for long periods and played some really attractive attacking football, hopefully it put to bed any worries that fans may have had after the departure of a few players in recent times.
On that front it sounds like a couple of players are on the verge of signing, both of whom should bring a smile to fans I’m sure.
I was once again pleased for Danny who notched his fourth of the season and yet again another crucial one. He’s settled in straight away, a typical Geordie lad, always looking for banter and always with a smile on his face. I wasn’t at all surprised that our fans took to him straight away, he’s relentless in his work rate from start to finish and has good quality to complement that; he’s got everything required to be a Watford great.
Also a mention for Dale Bennett and Lee Hodson; two young lads who stepped up to the plate and showed no sign of nerves, once again a credit to our very productive academy system we have here.
On a personal note I had the first session at the goalkeeping school that I started on Thursday just gone. There was an excellent turn out and the standard of goalkeeping was very high too, it’s something I want to do more of and I’m looking forward to this Thursday’s session already.
A busy week ahead with Plymouth and Leicester awaiting us. Play like we did against Barnsley and we could be in a very attractive position by the time I write this next week.
Bye for now - Rich
