Being positive for Blackpool
Not the performance or outcome we were looking for...what had been a very good week's training didn’t get taken onto the pitch against Scunthorpe and, as players, we know we have to take responsibility for that.
Whenever a game is lost it’s a case of picking our heads up, shouldering any criticism and moving forward. Despite our poor run we still have a great chance of the play-offs and with that, who knows.
So we know now isn’t the time for feeling sorry for ourselves or pointing the finger at each other but to be strong, go to Blackpool and give all that we’ve got to get us to where we all want to be.
The week itself had been good; training Tuesday consisted of small-sided games that were of a fast pace and good quality. Tuesday is generally a physically tough day when there isn’t a game until the Saturday.
On Wednesday we arrived for training and were informed that we’d be spending the day Go karting. Every now and again we’ll be presented with something like this as a change of scenery and I think this was more a case of trying to pick the lads up after the result against Palace.
The day itself was great; plenty of competition and I think it had the desired outcome. Jordan Stewart was the pick of the drivers and led from start to finish. Thursday and Friday spirits were high - which is what made the game against Scunthorpe a bit of a mystery.
Personally, I had a very quiet week. With there being good entertainment on Tuesday and Wednesday thanks to Man utd, Barca, Chelsea and Liverpool I decided on staying in and watching them. After the Scunthorpe game I went back to Aylesbury to see a friend of mine who is living in Newcastle. With him being so far away it’s quite rare we get to catch up so I took the opportunity.
So another big week ahead. I know I've said it before but it really is a case of refocusing and regrouping. We know we’ve still got a great chance of fulfilling our ambitions but it’s a case of putting aside some of the problems we’ve had and putting all our positive energy in the Blackpool game.
Being ever the optimist, I’m sure we’ll get the desired outcome.
The diary will be a day late, posted Monday, next weekend, for obvious reasons.
