Looking back over the trip to Palace and reacting to the FA Cup draw, Rich remembers this week about the maxim that's served the squad well so far this season
Not such a good week as we come away from Selhurst park with nothing to show for our efforts.
Football can be a funny game at times and Saturday was one of those times. Two down early on away from home will always make things tougher than they need be but I think most would have left the ground thinking ‘what if?’.
The reason I say that is that we did have chances and on the balance of play I don’t think they were 3 goals better than us but then I guess that’s football; on another day we convert one of our chances and the scoreline reads completely differently.
But, as with last week, knowing that we can’t get too high when we win, the same is true when are defeated. We did still create chances and have plenty of positives to take from what we are achieving.
Next week we face the league leaders. I’ve been fortunate enough to face Newcastle at St. James’ Park once before and it is quite an atmosphere - for those who are fortunate enough to have tickets I’m sure they won’t be disappointed.
We’ll be sure to go there without fear and who knows what could happen if we have a good day.
We also found out that we’ll be facing Chelsea in the third round of the cup, I’m sure most fans will be excited by the prospect of facing the Premiership leaders and it certainly gives us as players a chance to gauge ourselves as to where we’re at when compared to the world’s best.
Bye for now.
